Upgrading to every version of Windows

04 Mar

Back in 2005, I did a video called “a long road” for the Visual Studio 2005 launch. It showed the startup and desktop of every version of Windows, all the way up to the preview of Windows Vista.

Now someone else has taken that a little further and put together a video showing the upgrade process for each version,

YouTube extends length of videos to 15 minutes

30 Jul

Yesterday, YouTube announced that it was extending the allowed length of video that users can upload from 10 minutes to 15 minutes.

Couple of things to note from the official announcement. Firstly, if you have had a video rejected because it was too long, you need to go and delete it and upload it again.

Secondly, if you take advantage of your ’15 minutes of fame’, you may want to tag you video with “yt15minutes”. If you do by 4th August, YouTube will pick a few for a spotlight on thier homepage.

Heres a link to the official announcement http://youtube-global.blogspot.com/2010/07/upload-limit-increases-to-15-minutes.html

BBC iPlayer gets an update

26 May

The BBC is in the process of updating its iPlayer site, releasing a new beta version today. The update adds some more ‘social’ elements, and more interestingly for me, the ability to download future episodes…

Push2TV – Intel Wireless Display TV Adapter

21 May
These look really cool. Not got my hands on one yet, and even if I did, I need a laptop that has Intel wireless display support on it, But I love the idea of working on my laptop and then connecting to a large screen projector or TV to share some stuff with the room or watch a movie.

Might even convince me I don’t need a PC permanently connected to the TV (That’ll please the wife!)

DDD Southwest was a brilliant event a few weeks ago, and not just because I was speaking at it! For those of you who couldn’t make it, and also for those of you that did and are getting nostalgic, the DDD Southwest team have put together a video showing some of the goings on. Go on, watch it – Happy memories.

Now on Channel 9

24 May

Back in January, NxtGenUG held a meeting inside a cargo plane at Midland Air Museum. Now, exactly why we did this has become lost in the mists of time but Channel 9 got to here about it and Charles turned up with his video camera to capture the event.

I had forgotten about it for a while, but on Tuesday night while driving home from work It popped back into my mind, you know one of those ‘I wonder what happened to…’ thoughts.

Spookily, Richard Costall contacted me that night to point out the videos were up on Channel 9! Wow, the power of thought. I’m now concentrating really hard on the lottery numbers for this weekend ;-0)

In the meantime here are the videos. Enjoy.
